Quick Facts for Counselors
Each summer, we hire approximately 25 college undergraduates to mentor students in the PROMYS high school program. Counselors are drawn from the top mathematics majors across the U.S. and around the world from a wide range of colleges and universities. They spend an intensive six weeks living on the campus of Boston University, where we rely on them to create a supportive atmosphere in a vibrant and diverse mathematical community.
We plan to run PROMYS in person in 2022 and do not have plans for a hybrid program at this time. All participants will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to comply with COVID-19 protocols while at Boston University. More details on these requirements will be provided as they become available.
PROMYS 2022: July 3 - August 13, 2022. Counselors are expected to start work on July 1.
Counselor Application Deadline: March 15, 2022
Counselor Acceptance Decisions: Starting January 2022 on a rolling basis.
In 2022, counselors will receive free room and board plus a six-week stipend of $4,000.
Four components of the application must be submitted by the deadline:
- application form which includes short responses
- two letters of recommendation
- college transcript
- a curriculum vitae (CV)
PROMYS is particularly interested in increasing diversity in mathematics and in science and technology opportunities more broadly. PROMYS strongly encourages undergraduates to apply who are female, Black, Latino/a or from other groups underrepresented in STEM.
