PROMYS India

Update:

Since 2015, PROMYS and the Nash family have collaborated to identify and nurture exceptional talent in India and beyond. The Mehta Fellowship, started in 2015, brought students from around the world to Boston University before establishing the PROMYS India campus, which has cultivated an incredible mathematical community of students and counselors in India. That success would not have been possible without the partnership of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the financial support of the Nash family, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Squarepoint Foundation, Jane Street, and the exceptional dedication of PROMYS India’s first director, Professor Ila Varma. PROMYS is grateful for their incredible support.

After careful deliberation and in close coordination with the Nash family, PROMYS has decided that in 2026, we will again create opportunities for a select group of students and counselors to attend PROMYS in Boston, as we did during the initial years of the Mehta Fellows Program. PROMYS warmly hopes to offer a program in India in 2027.

Professor Varma plans to launch her own summer mathematics program this year. This will be independent of PROMYS, and we wish her well. PROMYS is grateful to Ila for her leadership.

PROMYS will send more information about the application process for the coming summer in Boston soon, and looks forward to supporting and growing the global PROMYS community in the years to come. Sign up here to receive future updates via email.
