Keith Hilles-Pilant has been a passionate supporter of the program since his participation in PROMYS for Teachers more than 15 years ago. His 53-year career spans mathematics, computer science, astrophysics, and education. Keith has held research and academic positions at Princeton, IBM Research, Los Alamos, and the University of Illinois. After a health crisis shifted his focus, he joined Milton Academy in Boston, where he taught advanced mathematics to exceptionally gifted students for nearly three decades and helped launch the Clay Mathematics Research Academy. He has held fellowships at Columbia, Cornell, and St. Andrews and taught in Hong Kong and multiple countries through School Year Abroad. Since retiring from Milton Academy in 2013, Keith has remained active in mathematics education, philanthropy, and governance, serving on the boards of PROMYS, the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES), and the Boston Athenaeum. He is honored to help guide PROMYS as it continues to inspire the next generation of mathematicians.
