Michael Driskill

Michael Driskill is thrilled to join PROMYS as its first CEO, bringing to the role a longstanding commitment and passion for teaching and learning mathematics. Michael began his career as a Teaching Fellow in New York City Public Schools. After a decade of teaching math, he joined Math for America (MƒA) – a nonprofit fellowship program founded by the renowned mathematician and philanthropist Jim Simons – where he worked for thirteen years in different capacities. As National Director for Advocacy, Michael worked with philanthropists and policymakers to develop and fund new programs based on MƒA. As Chief Operating Officer, he led a nationally recognized professional development program for more than 1000 math and science teachers working with approximately 100,000 students and in 350 schools.

Michael studied physics and math at the University of Tennessee, math education at Brooklyn College, and school leadership and administration at Hunter College. He is fascinated by different cultural approaches to mathematics education and traveled to Japan as a recipient of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program.
