Dr. Nariel Monteiro is the PROMYS Pathways Summer Program Director. He is an NSF MPS-Ascend Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California at Santa Cruz, working with Robert Boltje. The focus of his mathematical research is algebra – specifically, representation theory of finite groups. Nariel is from Cape Verde, graduating from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts in 2015. He earned both his Master’s (2017) and PhD (2021) from Tufts University. He has worked with PROMYS Pathways since its inception in 2017.
