Tom Hassan

Tom Hassan is delighted to join the PROMYS Board, continuing his lifelong dedication to expanding educational opportunities for motivated students. After graduating from Brown University, Tom worked in college admissions before pursuing both a master’s and doctorate in education at Harvard University, where he also served as a young college dean. He taught mathematics at Phillips Exeter Academy for more than two decades and served as Principal of the school. He is currently President of School Year Abroad (SYA), a program that immerses American high school students in language and culture at campuses overseas. Tom’s career has been guided by a commitment to helping students of all backgrounds access transformative academic experiences—an ideal deeply aligned with PROMYS’s values.
